John McEnroe is joining the coaching team of Canadian world No 9 Milos Raonic.

Seven-time Grand Slam champion McEnroe, 57, made the announcement while commentating at the French Open on Friday evening.

"When it comes to Wimbledon I'll be taking on and I'm going to help coach this guy named Milos," McEnroe told Eurosport.

"Milos Raonic can win majors. He's one of five or six guys that can win Wimbledon. I'm excited to be part of his team."

Raonic, 25, is a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and world No 4 who also works with Spaniard Carlos Moya, a former French Open champion.

This week he secured his passage to the fourth round of the French Open with a 7-66-2 6-3 win over Andrej Martin.

Raonic, who is eighth seed at Roland Garros, is currently being coached in Paris by 1998 French Open champion Carlos Moya and Riccardo Piatti.
