Germany coach Joachim Low has allayed fears Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm has suffered an injury which may jeopardise his participation in the World Cup finals.

Lahm lasted just 30 minutes of Bayern’s DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund before limping out of the action with what appeared to be a shin injury.

He received extensive treatment on the sidelines before being replaced by France winger Franck Ribery.

Low, who was in Berlin to watch the match which Bayern eventually won 2-0 after extra-time, later revealed on Sky: “I have just spoken with Philipp Lahm on the phone. We assume he will be at 100 per cent on Wednesday when we, as a national squad, meet up.”

The news his captain will be okay will come as a big relief to Low ahead of the tournament in Brazil.

Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan has missed almost the entire season due to injury and will not travel to the finals, while Sami Khedira and Bastian Schweinsteiger have struggled with long-term problems throughout the campaign.
