Tom Latham scored his fourth Test century as New Zealand piled up 329-2 on the first day of the second Test with Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

Martin Guptill scored 87 and Kane Williamson is still there on 95 not out as the Kiwis - already 1-0 in the series - tucked in after winning the toss.

Latham fell in the final over of the day for 136, his second ton of the series which comes after a less-than-prolific spell with Kent in the Specsavers County Championship.

Latham and Guptill put on 169 for the first wicket against a Zimbabwe attack that got no assistance from the low, slow pitch.

They brought the 50 up in just the twelfth over, and the 100 in the 27th as the hosts toiled, and it was a surprise when Guptill fell, lbw to Donald Tiripano.

That just brought Williamson in and dominated a stand of 160 with Latham, scoring his 95no off just 128 balls as he manoeuvred the ball around, striking eight fours.

Latham reached his century off 190 balls but fell to what would have been the penultimate ball of the day when he offered a return catch to part-time spinner Sean Williams.
