Stay together, have fun and results will take care of themselves. That was the winning mantra given by India's most successful Test skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to Virat Kohli's Team India, which leaves for a four-Test series against the West Indies on Tuesday night.

After bonding over drums in Banglaore in a rare jam session masterminded by head chief coach Anil Kumble, ODI and T20 skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave an inspirational speech to the West Indies-bound team, the short video of which was released by BCCI today.

"We started this 45 minutes back and most of us I believe played any of these instrument for the first time. If we can have fun with this, we can have fun in cricket," were the first lines of Dhoni's one-and-a-half minute pep talk to youngsters.

Dhoni, who had just attended a meeting to chart India's roadmap for the upcoming season, then warmed up in his trademark style.

"Most of us started playing cricket when we were five. I think this is the period when Indian cricket will move forward. Last two years, three years, we were talking of youngsters getting into Test cricket. Now, we have a set of batsmen who are into the Test arena. We have a pool of bowlers. We are not talking about two, three or four batsmen but a lot of batsmen. And, we are talking about a lot of bowlers. And, this is the phase which is going to be very interesting," said the World Cup-winning skipper.

'SUCCESS, FAILURES PART OF THE GAME'

Dhoni said success and failures are part of the game and urged the young players to enjoy themselves.

"Stay together, all of you won't have a very good series. Some of you will fail. But, with 17 Test matches, all of you will be successful. So, it is important to enjoy the period which is tough. But, till you stick together, till you enjoy, I don't think there is anything that will stop you," he said as the entire team listened in awe.

'CRICKET IS TOO MUCH FOR US'

With millions of fans and the entire cricketing world almost always keeping the spotlight on Team India, Dhoni's recipe for success to the youngsters was to keep things simple. He said it was important to not always think of cricket.

"Make sure that you have a lot of fun. That is something that we in Indian cricket don't often do. Cricket is too much for us. For a lot of us, if you take cricket out of our personal lives, there aren't many things left. So, we actually give it a lot of importance. But, it is important to have fun. And these 45 minutes that we spent here, it just suggests that we can have fun anywhere in the world. We just need the company of us."

'MORE OF A LIFE LESSON'

Meanwhile, Test skipper Virat Kohli urged his players to treat the jam session like a lesson on life.

"This is more of a life lesson than a cricket lesson. We are going to play together for the next eight years, whether we like it or not. So, we need to enjoy life together. I am sure a lot of us will remember this day for what we did. The biggest lesson for me is that things are hard but what matters is how to make it different.

""We walked in, didn't know how to play drums and whatever this is called. Not many of us know how to dance but we tried and then we ended up having a lot of fun. So, that is all what we can do. We can try our best and be honest about what we do. And, then good things happen. So that is my summary of things we did."
