Manchester United to set new Premier League win total low logo 17-05-2017

Manchester United will set a new low in wins in a Premier League season when the club close out their 2016-17 campaign Sunday.

The Red Devils played out a scoreless draw against Southampton on Wednesday, keeping them stuck on 17 wins this season.

Even a win against Crystal Palace on Sunday will only take United up to 18 wins on the campaign, leaving them one short of the previous low of 19, set under David Moyes in 2013-14 and equalled last season by Louis van Gaal’s side.

17 - Even if Man Utd win their remaining game, it will be their lowest ever total of wins in a single PL season (currently 17). Drawn.

Rather than racking up the wins, Jose Mourinho’s team have excelled at playing out draws this season. The scoreless affair at St. Mary’s was United’s 15th share of the points this year, which is also the club’s most in their Premier League history.

And it has also been a season of scoreless draws for the Red Devils. Wednesday’s was the sixth of the season, which is the highest number United have had in the Premier League era alongside the 2004-05 campaign.

6 – Only in 2004-05 have Manchester United had as many 0-0 draws in a @premierleague season as the six they have in 2016-17. Deadlock.

Despite the setbacks, Mourinho’s side can qualify for the Champions League for next season if they can defeat Ajax in the Europa League final on May 24.
