Laurent Koscielny has refused to rule out a move away from Arsenal, admitting that he is a “Marseille fan” amid links to the Ligue 1 side.

The Gunners snapped up the centre-half as a relative unknown from Lorient in 2010.

He has matured into a classy Premier League and France international performer during his time in north London, with close to 300 appearances made across seven seasons.

Koscielny was, however, unable to help Arsene Wenger’s side to a top-four finish in 2016-17 and has opted against distancing himself from speculation suggesting that he could soon head home.

The 31-year-old told Telefoot: “I have a contract with Arsenal, I even signed an extension last November until 2020.

“I feel very good over there.

“I have always said that I was a Marseille fan when I was younger. When a mythical club like Marseille contact you, it is good.

“But will I sign for them? I have no idea at all.”

Koscielny is an important part of Arsenal’s plans, as shown by the awarding of fresh terms during the 2016-17 campaign.

He has struck up a productive partnership with Shkodran Mustafi at the heart of the Gunners’ back four and Wenger will be reluctant to see that unit broken up.

He will also be aware that while he cannot offer Koscielny Champions League football next year, neither can Marseille – as they could only muster a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1.
