Besart Berisha conceded he was "very relieved" to have scored the winner in Melbourne Victory's 1-0 semi-final triumph over Brisbane Roar on Sunday.

Berisha headed Fahid Ben Khalfallah's cross past Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young in the 70th minute at AAMI Park, sending Victory into next week's A-League grand final where they will meet premiers Sydney FC.

Victory had entered the semi-final with just two wins in their past six matches but came storming out of the blocks after a week's rest, with Berisha missing two prime chances in the opening 10 minutes.

The Kosovo international shook his head when reminded about those misses after the game and was happy to make an impact "when it's really needed".

"It was a great assist," Berisha said.

"He [Ben Khalfallah] was looking for me in the first half. He tried, he told me 'I'm looking for these balls' and in the end I was there… I'm very happy, of course.

"This is my job. I love to score goals, especially in the finals."

COMMENT: Sydney shouldn't fear Victory

In his six seasons in the A-League, Berisha has been the definition of the 'big-game player', with the centre-forward having scored eight goals in 12 finals and claiming four championship medals.

The 31-year-old was one of six Victory players to have started against Roar, who also started the Big V's 2015 grand final triumph over Sydney.

With the Sky Blues' squad having been substantially overhauled over the past two years, Berisha claimed Victory's championship-winning experience could make a difference at Allianz Stadium next week.

"The most important is, which team will be ready for this moment when the whistle starts in the final," he said.

"We have experienced players in our team, who have played in finals, scored in finals - not just in A-League but in the Socceroos too - and that's really important."

Berisha added of Victory's performance against Roar: "We played great football, right from the first minute. I thought we had possession, every duel we won, every tackle we won.

"I think it's one of the best games we've played [this season] I thought, and in the final that's even better. I think it will help us now for the [grand] final."
