Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remained silent after being asked whether Rudy Gestede attempted to bite Eric Bailly during Sunday's Premier League clash.

The Ivory Coast international clashed with the Middlesbrough striker in the second half of the meeting at the Riverside Stadium, with two exchanging shoves before Gestede puts his face to Bailly's neck area.

While former Aston Villa forward Gestede clearly makes no contact on Bailly with his mouth, United fans on social media have still asked the question and whether that was what he was initially intending.

Michael Owen also discussed the incident on BT Sport and suggested that it had looked as though Gestede was considering biting his opponent ala Luis Suarez on Giorgio Chiellini back in 2014.

And when asked about what had happened, and if the 28-year-old had attempted to bite Bailly, Mourinho remained silent and decided not to answer the question with his press conference having been brought to a conclusion.
