Team India's cricketing calendar has never seen these many Tests scheduled in the coming months. The Test team will be playing another 13 matches at home with New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia all slated to visit the country starting next month.

With so many Tests to be played in the coming days, cricket fans won't get many opportunities to see India's limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the field. Dhoni, who retired from the longest format of the game in December 2014, as of now is scheduled to play just seven more matches in 2016 - two T20Is against West Indies in USA and 5 ODIs against New Zealand in India.

Since taking over the reins from Dhoni last year, Kohli has lead India in 14 Tests recording seven wins and two losses, while five games ended in draws. Dhoni's last assignment was against Zimbabwe where he led a young Indian team, minus the stars, to victory in both the ODIs and T20I series in Harare in June.

He has already played 27 matches in 2016 so far - 8 ODIs and 19 T20Is. Mahi's commitments with the Indian team have decreased, which has had a direct impact on his averages in ODIs and T20Is.

He is certainly past his prime in the shorter formats but he still remains an integral part of the Indian CRICKET setup due to his superior leadership skills and unorthodox wicketkeeping technique. India's most successful captain is now in the final stages of career but still looks hungry and fit enough to continue playing for another couple of years or so.

Indian cricket fans are also happy to see him lead the team out on to the ground even though his prowess as the greatest finisher in the limited-overs formats have taken a hit in recent times. 2016 has not been Dhoni's best year so far but let's hope he manages to close it out on a high.
