'One of the best moments of my career' - Bartra makes return after Dortmund bus attack logo 20-05-2017

Marc Bartra made an emotional return to football on Saturday when he lined up for Borussia Dortmund in their last Bundesliga game of the season.

The Spanish centre-back was injured in the bomb attack on Dortmund's bus during their journey to a Champions League tie against Monaco in April.

Bartra was the only player to suffer a significant physical injury, suffering a fractured wrist which required surgery.

He recovered on time to play the full 90 minutes against Werder Bremen as Thomas Tuchel's men secured third place in the German top flight with a 4-3 win.

After his terrifying ordeal, the 26-year-old was delighted to get back into action with his side.

"It's one of the best moments of my professional career," he said. "I've suffered so much through this negative experience.

"This game was not just about the three points, it was about playing football again. That's what I like best and that's why it was so emotional."

Bartra was given special applause from fans and team-mates as they celebrated together at the close of the campaign, which made the coach happy.

"That was something very special," Tuchel said. "A very special image."

Bartra and Dortmund can close the season with a trophy when they take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal final.
