The 48-year-old, who played for Dallas from 1998 to 2005, is in his fourth season as the team's head coach. FCD has made the playoffs in each of his first three seasons in charge, winning the Supporters' Shield and U.S. Open Cup last year.

"We are excited to ensure Oscar will be our head coach for many years to come," FCD chairman Clark Hunt said in a news release. "As a manager and a developer of talent, Oscar has proven himself to be among the elite in our sport, and we look forward to even greater success under his leadership in the future."

Pareja previously served as an assistant coach and academy director with Dallas from 2005 to 2011, and was head coach of the Colorado Rapids for the 2012 and 2013 campaigns.

He has grown a reputation for being one of the most prolific developers of young talent in MLS, with Dallas boasting a league-high nine homegrown players on their roster.

"Our ultimate goal is to continue developing the model, with a commitment to young players, that makes FC Dallas so successful," Pareja said. "We're extremely happy here. I feel blessed to continue working here for many more years to come."
