Perth boss Lowe measured in response to VAR decisions

Perth Glory manager Kenny Lowe seemed rather upset at the time.

His Glory side were down 1-0, still very much in their semi-final showdown with Sydney FC, when VAR took over not once, but twice.

Sydney top Perth to reach final

Glory fell to a 3-0 final scoreline, with two goals allowed by the video assistants putting Perth in a hole too big to climb out of.

Despite his reaction at the time, Lowe took a measured approach to his post-match press conference saying: "Look, it's VAR there.

“Whether I think it’s fairly or unfairly it doesn’t matter.

“The guys are up there, they look at it and make a decision.

“I thought maybe on the second one I think there was maybe a block (that stopped) the defender from getting in and making a tackle.

“But hey, that’s what it’s there for.”

Sydney manager Graham Arnold felt both decisions were correct and echoed Lowe in saying that these moments are why the VAR system has been put in place.

“That’s what it’s there for, they were two blatant mistakes,” Arnold said.

“We would have felt very hard done by if they were disallowed.

“But I think overall they were correct decisions – they were wrong decisions made right.”
