PV Sindhu continues winning form, enters Hong Kong Superseries final

Rio Olympic silver medallist and China Open winner, PV Sindhu, continued her successful run in 2016 as the Indian shuttler prevailed 21-14, 21-16 in a straightforward match that took her 46 minutes on the court.

Sindhu, who had made her way into the semis after beating Singapore’s Liang Xiayou, had an upper hand over the home favourite throughout. Sindhu had an five point lead in the second game.

She will face Chinese Taipei’s Tzu Ying Tai in the final who overcame Rio Olympics gold medallist and World No 1 Carolina Marin in her semi. The Taipei girl won 21-17, 14-21, 21-16 in a marathon contest.

Sindhu goes into the final high on confidence after winning her first Superseries title on Sunday in China.

It could be double celebration for India in Hong Kong after Sameer Verma staged miraculous comebacks to beat Jan O’ Jorgensen 21-19, 24-22 in the men’s singles semi-final.
