Ravichandran Ashwin completes rare Test double as India bully England

Ravichandran Ashwin today became the first Indian and only the fifth all-rounder in the world to take more than 25 wickets and score in excess of 300 runs in a Test series.

The 30-year-old has scored 306 runs and snared 28 wickets in the ongoing five-Test series against England which India have already sealed 3-0.

Ashwin slammed a fluent 67 after conceding 1/151 in the fifth Test at his home ground in Chennai to join an elite list with Ian Botham, Richie Benaud, George Giffen and Aubrey Faulkner.

Botham was the last one to do it back in 1981.

Ashwin has had a sensational year aggregating 612 runs in Tests besides snaring 72 wickets. He has won man-of-the-series awards in four successive series - against Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand. He had got two hundreds on the tour of West Indies and hammered four half-centuries in the ongoing series against England.

Ashwin is currently the number one bowler and the number one all-rounder in Test cricket.
