The Selangor FA (FAS) has demanded that the Selangor state government return a building complex intended for the Red Giants' use to the association.

The complex, located in the outskirts of Shah Alam, was built by the government for FAS and completed in the past year, although the association has yet to move their operations there.

According to FAS president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, the land the complex was built on was granted by the previous state administration, as compensation for the state taking over a piece of land owned by FAS in Kelana Jaya.

"The complex has been taken over, we can't use the facilities. We then took the step of sending a letter (to the state) asking that the complex be handed back to FAS.

"However, they wrote us back saying that the state's executive committee has declined to do so. I think this is an utterly heartless action," said Subahan in a press conference on Friday.

Subahan also lambasted those in power who are eager to use the Red Giants as a platform for popularity, but are reluctant to help the side when they need assistance.

"When Selangor win trophies everyone wants a chance at lifting it, but no one wants to look after the welfare of FAS.

"We are not asking for much, just our own place to run our operations and for the team to practice," he continued.

The Selangor state government is led by Menteri Besar (chief minister) Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who coincidentally held the FAS president post before Subahan's tenure. He stepped down from the post and withdrew the state's financial support for the Red Giants just before the 2017 season began, after the FAS executive committee staged a mutiny against him.

Since then, Azmin can occasionally be seen showing his support for the other Selangor-based Super League side, PKNS FC.
