Two Chinese Super League teams were drawn to face each other in the third quarter-final. Shanghai SIPG and Guangzhou Evergrande will lock horns as the tournament is into its final eight contestants.

When asked about his thoughts on the draw, Evergrande Chairman Liu Yong Hui sympathised with the Chinese football fans whom he believes will be disappointed that the nation's two representatives cannot meet in the final as one will have to be eliminated on the way to the semi-finals.

"The Chinese supporters will feel that it is a pity that two Chinese teams cannot meet in the AFC Champions League final," he said after the draw.

The first leg is scheduled to be played in Shanghai on August 22 while the return leg in Guangzhou will take place on September 12.
