The United States, Mexico and Canada federations have called a joint press conference for Monday, April 10, during which the nations say they will make a “historic announcement.”

The federations, which announced the conference by press release Saturday, are expected to announce a joint bid for the 2026 World Cup.

CONCACAF nearing agreement on 'League of Nations'

The press conference is set to take place at 2 p.m. ET in New York and will be attended by Canada soccer and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani, president of U.S. Soccer Sunil Gulati, and president of the Mexican soccer federation and CONCACAF vice-president Decio de Maria.

There has been one World Cup hosted by multiple nations in the past – the 2002 tournament which took place in Japan and South Korea. No World Cup has ever been hosted by three nations.
