Arturo Vidal has urged Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal and join “the best team in the world” Bayern Munich.

Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League under Arsene Wenger for the first time in 21 years, with Chile international Alexis set to miss out on Europe's top club competition if he stays at the Emirates.

'Kroenke Out!' Arsenal must listen

International team-mate Vidal believes that Alexis would benefit from moving to Bayern Munich, and would love to link up with his countryman at club level.

"Of course I would like to him to come because he is an extraordinary player," Vidal told Sport.es.

"He is doing great at Arsenal but I think he needs to take an extra step to fight amongst the best in the world and that is why he has to come to the best team in the world.

"When I've been asked, I have always said that he is the player that has to be here. He has a year left on his contract. Everybody wants him because it is easier to pay that money now than if he had three years left. Let's hope he makes the right choice for him and for Chile too, because he is a player that helps us a lot."

Vidal has been impressed with Alexis at international level but does not think he has shown his greatness at club level just quite yet - waiting for a club of Bayern's stature to unlock his real talent.

"He would do great here. He is a player that trains hard, who has a lot of talent and who is still young," Vidal continued.

"We hope he will get the chance to come here because if he comes he will show all his talent. [Arsenal] aren't as strong as the other big teams around right now, if Alexis wants to measure up against the rest he needs to come here where the strongest players are."

Arsenal break 21-year CL record

Bayern lifted their fifth Bundesliga title in a row this season and knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League with a 10-2 aggregate scoreline before being eliminated by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
