WATCH: Bruin goal completes 10-minute Sounders comeback logo 12-03-2017

For 82 minutes, it looked like the MLS champion Seattle Sounders were headed for a second straight loss to start the 2017 season.

Down 2-0 to the Montreal Impact thanks to the brilliance of Ignacio Piatti, who scored a goal and delivered an assist, the Sounders got a lifeline in the 83rd minute after Laurent Ciman brought down Oniel Fisher for a penalty. Nicolas Lodeiro converted to cut the lead in half.

The Impact may have been fortunate — Ciman was on a yellow and could have gotten a second on the penalty. They were arguably lucky again a few minutes later as Clint Dempsey appeared to score the equalizer, only for the referee to make a questionable handball call against Jordan Morris.

But the Sounders would not be denied. Cristian Roldan turned provider deep into stoppage time and delivered a ball into the area. Multiple Sounders found themselves with space, and after Morris couldn’t finish the chance, Will Bruin prodded home to level the score.

Bruin had entered the game as a substitute with Seattle chasing the game. It was his first goal for his new team after joining in a trade from the Houston Dynamo in the offseason.

It salvaged a point for the Sounders, who finally get to play their 2017 home opener next weekend against the New York Red Bulls.
