Top seed and home favourite Stan Wawrinka held on to record a hard-fought second-round victory over Lucas Rosol at the Geneva Open on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Swiss claimed a 6-4 3-6 6-3 success in an hour and 36 minutes on Court Central to set up a quarter-final clash with Argentina's Federico Delbonis.

Delbonis made easy progress through to the last eight with a straight-sets win over qualifier Andrey Kuznetsov.

The Argentine, who is looking to add to his maiden title on the ATP Tour which he picked up in last year's Brasil Open, saw off his Russian opponent with a 6-3 6-4 triumph.

Third seeded Spaniard Pablo Andujar fought back after going a set down to record a 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-2 comeback win over French qualifier Adrian Mannarino.

Joao Sousa of Portugal, seeded sixth-here, claimed a straightforward 6-4 6-4 over Jurgen Melzer of Austria in 80 minutes to progress, while Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci sealed victory by the same scoreline against Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin in a match five minutes shorter.

In the final match on Wednesday, Germany's Benjamin Becker went down against Albert Ramos of Spain 7-6 (7-2) 6-2.
