Before he burst onto the international scene with a coming-of-age century at Adelaide, Kohli was into the news during the second Test at Sydney.

While patrolling the boundary, he came across an abusive bunch of people in the crowd. Not the one to take things lying down, he showed his middle finger to the crowd, a spectacle that was captured by all TV cameras.

April 2013, Bangalore:

After having hit seamer Pradeep Sangwan for two sixes in an over, Royal Challengers Bangalore's Kohli was out while attempting a wild slog off Kolkata Knight Riders' Laxmipathy Balaji in the Indian Premier League.

Walking back to the pavilion, Kohli turned around and passed a remark which infuriated rival skipper Gambhir, who charged towards him. Both were involved in an ugly spat.

July 2013, Harare:

Kohli was India's stand-in skipper during the tour of Zimbabwe. In the second ODI, he attempted to flick the ball past mid-wicket and was caught by Malcolm Waller.

Kohli however stood his ground and the decision was reviewed. The third umpire ruled against the batsman as well. Kohli then had a heated argument with both the on-field umpires and walked off the field fuming.

During the Boxing Day Test against Australia, Mitchell Johnson fired in a throw straight back at Kohli who was nearing a century at that moment. Kohli had a heated exchange of words with Johnson and even lost his concentration a bit.

Though he stuttered for the next 20 minutes and went onto score a brilliant 169 that helped India post a respectable score in the first innings at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Perth, 2015:

India's star batsman abused an Indian journalist in Perth during the ICC World Cup 2015. Kohli was apparently upset ove a report about him and girlfriend Anushka Sharma in a national daily. Kohli went on to hurl abuses at the journalist in Hindi and Punjabi and threatened him with dire consequences.

However, it was later revealed that Kohli has mistaken him for another reporter of a different national daily. Kohli realised his fault and sent an apology across through another journalist.
