Shillong Lajong have had a consistent season that one has almost come to expect from Thangboi Singto. At one point of time they were looking to sneak into the top three but had to be satisfied with a fifth place finish as the league ended. In the Federation Cup too, they were just a pace behind as two close losses meant they had to exit in the group stages itself.

East Bengal to pick up ISL bid

Players like Konsham Singh, Yuto Kinowaki, Samuel Shadap, Samuel Lalmuanpuia have all been important to the North Eastern side who have finished comfortably mid table yet again. Goal runs through the top three performers for the Lajong club in 2016-17 in descending order...

Another of Shillong Lajong's youth brigade, the 20-year-old has had a field day in the I-League and the Federation Cup this season. Slotting in beside the experienced Yuto Kinowaki, Issac has not only surpassed his Japanese partner but has in fact been one of the best midfielders in the country.

What next for Indian coaches?

Having played in all the 21 matches that Shillong Lajong have played this season, the youngster has also managed to bang in two goals for the side. A wily and dynamic midfielder, Vanmalsawma has excelled in building up attack and has also been equally proficient in breaking up play as and when required. It can only go up from here on for the prodigous talent.

1. ASER DIPANDA

With 11 goals this season, the 28 year Cameroonian striker has been one of the mainstays of the Shillong Lajong side especially with the lack of goals coming from elsewhere. Dipanda has often carried the team single-handedly and his absence at crucial junctures especially in the Federation Cup has been one of the main reasons for Lajong's early exit. The top scorer in the I-League, Dipanda's influence on Lajong can be judged easily by the next best scorer in the side, Samuel Lalmuanpuia with a measly three goals.
