Legspinner Yasir Shah became the joint second-fastest to reach the milestone of 100 wickets on day four of the first day-night Test match between Pakistan and West Indies in Dubai on Sunday.

Shah, dismissed West Indies' Miguel Cummins to reach to 100 wickets in his 17th Test match, the fastest by any Pakistan bowler. England's George Lohmann is the fastest to 100 wickets in 16 matches and the record still stands, which the medium-pacer achieved in 1896.

Australia's Charlie Turner and Clarrie Grimmett and England's Sydney Barnes each got to the milestone in their 17th Test.

Shah, bettered Saeed Ajmal who held the Pakistani record of fastest to 100 Tests wickets in 19 matches.

Before Shah, the record of being fastest to 100 wickets from Asia was held by India's Ravichandran Ashwin, who had reached the feat in 18 Tests.

Shah said Ashwin’s words of encouragement were inspiring.

“Yes, he had said good luck so I am thankful. It’s naturally motivating when a great bowler who is second fastest to 200(wickets) tweets a good luck message and it’s really a great motivation for me,” Shah said referring to Ashwin’s tweet.
