Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth continued his magnificent run in the Denmark Open Superseries Premier tournament by registering a wonderful 21-18, 21-17 win over Hong Kong’s Vincent Wong Wing Ki in the semi-final on Sunday.

Srikanth started off aggressively as he won five straight points in the first game to race away to a 10-4 lead. However, Wong Wing Ki fought back and reduced the deficit to two points. However, Srikanth maintained the two-point lead as he won the first game 21-18.

The Indian got off to a great start in the second game as he won four straight points to race away to a 4-0 lead but once again, Wong Wing Ki fought back well. Despite some magnificent rallies from Srikanth, the Indian committed some errors which resulted in the Hong Kong player taking a 11-9 lead in the second game.

However, Srikanth fought back brilliantly and won the next three points to take a 12-11 lead but he continued to commit some errors at crucial intervals. The see-saw nature of the match continued as Srikanth squandered a two-point lead to allow Wong Wing Ki to take a 15-14 lead.

However, the Indian maintained his intensity and he took a 16-15 lead with a magnificent smash. From that moment, Srikanth did not let his intensity slip and he sealed the second game 21-17 and the match.

The Denmark Open Superseries has been wonderful for Srikanth. He had defeated World No.1 and reigning world champion Viktor Axelsen in the quarter-final in a tough three-game match and now he has a chance to create something special.
