The Hotel Charleroi Airport , located in Gosselies just a stone's throw from Brussels, is offering its guests the option to rent a goldfish for the night for just over £3, to have a bit of company in their room.

Although the hotel has been running the service for a while, it's just grabbed the attention of social media after one Twitter user shared a photo inside the hotel reception.

The image shows a little goldfish sitting in his glass bowl, next to a sign that reads: "Alone in your room and want company? Rent-a-fish, €3.50 euros/night."

Michelle Cook, who shared the photo, revealed that it was actually her friend who was staying in the hotel and sent her the snap.

"My friend is staying in a hotel in Belgium," she wrote in the caption. "They've offered her the option of renting a fish for the night in case she's lonely. #nos**t."

The goldfish in the reception isn't the only fishy friend available. In fact, the hotel's housekeeping department is also home to a large fish tank with other goldfish, including a shelter, oxygen and plenty of plants.

Tempted to stay there for your next trip to Belgium? You can find rooms at Hotel Charleroi Airport - Van Der Valk on from £63 a night. (Based on one person staying in September).
