Sleep on ice surrounded by dancing clowns, dive into a surreal frozen underwater world and climb an ice staircase to your floating bed.

The first year round ice hotel has been unveiled in Sweden this week.

Located in the Swedish village of Jukkasjarvi, 200km north of the Arctic Circle and next to the the shores of the Torne River, sits the ICEHOTEL.

WENNAfter taking 27 years to finish, the luxury hotel will be open 365 days a year.

Built and rebuilt since 1989 from ice taken from the Torne River, the structure will rely on solar powered cooling technology to help stop it from melting in the summer months.

The ICEHOTEL features both cold and warm rooms as well as a dining room, cocktail bar, and communal changing rooms, toilets, and saunas.

With hand sculpted suites made of - you guessed it - ice, guests can enjoy ice cocktails in an ice bar with "ice art".

Founder of ICEHOTEL Yngve Bergqvist said: “The nature and environment surrounding the buildings are not only a huge source of inspiration for the ICEHOTEL, but are also necessary to create the hotel year on year.

"Previously we said goodbye to our guests in the Spring, but thanks to help from solar we can now invite them to stay year-round.”
