Japan is no stranger to luxury. Anyone that’s visited can attest to the crazy toilet situation they’ve got going on – who knew a toilet could have so many buttons?

Their latest train is no different and the rose gold covered penthouse-like suites will put your home to shame.

With a capacity of just 34 people, a ride on Train Suite Shiki-shima would be the closest you’d get to alone time in the Japan – seriously, have you seen their peak hour?

Operated by JR East, the train – whose name means “Island of Four Seasons” – travels up the east coast of Japan, with four-day trips from Hokkaido to north-eastern Japan, as well as a two-day trip around Yamanashi, Nagano and Fukushima.

The rooms are pure opulence, styled with traditional Japanese design like washi paper, wood and Japanese lacquer finishes.

Oh, except the price maybe. The cost ranges from $38,000 to $112,500 per person depending on whether you choose one of the luxurious suites or smaller deluxe rooms.

The prohibitive cost didn’t put people off though – the train is booked out until April 2018 already.

With a top speed of 70km/h, it barely cracks even one-third of the speeds of the normal Bullet Trains in Japan.

I wouldn’t be in a hurry to get off either.
