Terrifying moment of panic on board Argentine football team plane as door blows open on take-off

Horrified football players were left screaming for their lives when their plane door suddenly blew open during take-off.

The squad of Racing de Avellaneda were flying home from their defeat against fellow Argentine side Club Atlético Belgrano when the terrifying incident occurred on Sunday.

Mobile phone footage filmed inside the cabin shows the small propeller plane gathering speed at is hurtles along the runway.

Members of the team are suddenly heard screaming "Stop! Stop!" as the aircraft is just seconds from take-off.

As the cameraman turns to see what is causing the commotion, teammates are seen desperately trying to attract the pilot's attention while other battle to force the door shut.

The clip, which was shared on Buenos Aires Vivo , cuts out abruptly amid the panic. 

Thankfully, disaster was averted and the captain abandoned take-off.

The emergency door was fixed and the team made it safely home to Buenos Aires on the second attempt.
