All male garba still alive in Vadodara

It is a common sight at most garba venues to see elaborately dressed men and women dance together. But Vadodara has the distinction of having an all-male garba where men dressed in simple clothes do garbas purely out of devotion to worship the goddess.Garba performed at Amba Mata temple at Vadodara is dedicated to male devotees. Men wrap 'chunris' around their neck and presume themselves to be female friends of Goddess Amba and dance along with her. A choir of male singers keep up their renditions.
