Himachal Pradesh: 4-yr-old boy from Spiti to head Tibetan Buddhism's Nyingma sect
It has become an honour for the family of Nawang Tashi Rapten, a four-year-old boy from Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti, after the lamas identified him as the reincarnation of Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, supreme head of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. He has been ordained as the head of Dorje Drak monastery in Shimla. "The lamas contacted us and asked if we shall give our child to them. They told us about the reincarnation of the Rinpoche. We told them that we were extremely happy and why would we not give our child to the noble cause,” said Nawang’s grandfather Tsetan Angchuk.
