Protest In New York Over Memphis Death Of 29-year-old Black Man Tyre Nichols | English News | NYCAs the city of Memphis readied to release video footage on Friday (January 27) of the violent encounter between Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, and five police officers, protests kicked off in New York, starting in Times Square.In the video, Nichols is heard repeatedly screaming, "Mom! Mom!" as he struggles with officers. His mother has said her son was only about 80 yards (meters) from home when he was beaten.
