
#GoldenFrames: R D Burman - King of Bollywood Music
Born to the Hindi film composer and singer in Kolkata, Sachin Dev Burman, R. D. Burman was an Indian high-ranked music director. R D Burman is commonly known as the 'Music Scientist' and the 'King of Bollywood Music'. He composed musical scores for 331 movies from the 1960s to the 1990s. R. D. Burman was trained by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan (sarod) and Samta Prasad (tabla). He also considered Salil Chowdhury his guru. R. D. Burman, who was nicknamed Pancham, is known for songs like 'Keh Dun Tumhe Ya Chup Rahun', 'Tu Tu Hai Wahi', the eponymous song, 'Mehabooba' from 'Sholay' (1975) and many others. His first wife was Rita Patel with whom he married in 1966 and got divorced in 1971. In 1980, he got married to legendary singer Asha Bhosle. R. D.
