This Indian hill state witnesses at least 5 mini earthquakes in month on an average

Hill state Himachal Pradesh, on average, is jolted by low-intensity earthquakes at least five times a month. As per National Centre for Seismology (NCS) data, the hill state, which falls in high-intensity seismic zones of IV and V, was hit by 87 earthquakes between October 2021 and March 2023.The tremors of up to 4.4 in magnitude on the Richter scale have been recorded across Himachal in this period, but the majority were lower than 3 in magnitude, better known as micro earthquakes. Chamba district registered the highest number of quakes at 26, followed by 15 in Mandi, 12 in Kinnaur and 11 in Shimla district.
