Delhi’s Jama Masjid bans entry for women visiting alone or in a group

Delhi's Jama Masjid has issued an order imposing a ban on the entry of women coming alone or in a group.Delhi Commission for Women's chief Swati Maliwal issued a notice to the Imam of Jama Masjid after the entry of solitary or group of girls at the mosque was prohibited. However, Mosque's PRO Sabiullah Khan justified the decision saying that when women come alone, ‘improper acts’ are witnessed at the religious place and the ban is intended to stop such practices.According to Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam, the decision was taken after some ‘incidents’ were reported on the premises of the heritage structure.However people visiting the Jama Masjid are having mixed and varied reactions regarding the issue.
