Did you know Dia Mirza's husband Vaibhav Rekhi has a daughter from his first marriage?
Bollywood actor Dia Mirza, known for her roles in movies like 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein', 'Sanju', 'Thappad' and others tied the knot with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in an intimate ceremony on 15th February. The couple was in a relationship for quite some time, but they never spoke about it publicly. This is the second time Dia and her husband Vaibhav have given love a chance, both of them were earlier married, Dia to Sahil Sangha and Vaibhav to Sunaina Rekhi respectively. Dia and Sahil parted in 2019, after being together for 11 years. The two also co-owned a production house where they backed films like Zayed Khan's 'Love Breakups Zindagi' in 2011 and Vidya Balan's 'Bobby Jasoos' in 2014. While, Vaibhav, is a businessman based in Mumbai who owns Piramal Fund Management Pvt Ltd. He is also one of the partners in the firm Piramal-Capital and Housing Finance. Vaibhav went abroad for his studies after school and obtained a graduate degree from Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. The entrepreneur returned to India after his graduation and pursued an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He was earlier married to lifestyle and health expert Sunaina Rekhi. They have a daughter named Samaira, who escorted Dia down the aisle on the wedding day. Rekhi has also got an interesting Hyderabad connection and that definitely adds more to his relationship with Dia. Post-wedding Vaibhav Rekhi’s former wife Sunaina took to the photo-video sharing app and sent wishes to the newlywed couple, adding that she is glad that their daughter has more family in Mumbai now. Talking about Samaira's reaction, Sunaina stated, 'if Samaira couldn’t see that kind of love between her father and her mother, when she was younger, at least she sees that love now. She carries that beauty and that energy into her future, which is so lovely, to be able to see the love in a marriage. I think that’s very special, and I’m very happy for Samaira and I’m very happy for her dad, and for Dia'. Meanwhile, Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi broke many patriarchal norms with their wedding. The couple chose a woman priest to solemnize the wedding amid the love and support of their families. Now, talking about the work front, Dia is actively involved in social work and has worked with the government to spread awareness about HIV and the prevention of female foeticide. Dia was also appointed as the UN Environment's Goodwill Ambassador for India in 2017. While on the entertainment front, she was last seen in Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Thappad'.
