First Grand Prix motor racing event was held in 1906

The first Grand Prix, a motor racing event was held at France on June 26 and 27, 1906. The event was organised by the Automobile Club of France (ACF). Only three cars from each country which made in that country were allowed for entry. The weigh of the cars were allowed up to 1,000 kilograms. There was a total no of 34 entries but two of them failed to make the start. Renault, FIAT, Panhard, Mercedes plus ten were among the other participant brands. Entrants did six laps each day covering a total distance of 769.36 miles. Only 11 cars were able to reach the finish line.
