Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sharmila Tagore and Begum of Bhopal all wore the same heirloom sharara for their respective weddings; more details inside

For as long as we can remember, Saif Ali Khan has stayed in the limelight. Be it for his personal life, children or his films. The same goes for his sister Soha Ali Khan who is also an actor. But the same cannot be said for their sister, Saba Ali Khan, who is a jewellery designer, Tarot reader and a spiritual healer. She is perhaps the only member from the Pataudi family that keeps away from the limelight. Nevertheless, she makes her presence felt on social media. More often than not, she treats followers with golden pictures from their family album. Recently, Saba took to Instagram yet again and shared a bunch of throwback photos of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sharmila Tagore and her grandmother, Begum of Bhopal from their respective weddings and it was just surreal. While many of you may be aware, for some, it may come as new information. For her big day, Kareena, who tied the knot with the Nawab of Pataudi and actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012 ditched a contemporary lehega and instead opted for a heirloom piece. She wore the same traditional sharara which was also worn by her mother-in-law, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, for her own nikaah to Mansoor Ali Khan, popularly known as Tiger Pataudi in 1969. The sharara set comprised of a tissue rust-orange kurta paired with a matching dupatta embroidered heavily in gold. Intricate zardosi and gota work completed the regal look. The heirloom piece originally belonged to Sharmila Tagore’s mother-in-law Begum Sajida Sultan who belonged to the royal family of Bhopal. Coming back to the photos that Saba shared, while she captioned her mom's pic as, 'Tradition...passed on to the next generation. #royal #wedding #outfit #begumofpataudi #tradition #bhopal #married #to #late #nawab #mansurealikhanpataudi.', she posted Kareena's wedding picture and wrote, 'MASHALLAH. Generation and tradition continued. #begumofpataudi #kareenakapoorkhan #wedding #gharara #old #tradition #folloed #nawabofpataudi.' As for the picture featuring her grandmother, Saba captioned it as, 'Begum Sajida Sultan, My grandmother.' It goes without saying that her followers were left spellbound after seeing three stunning women from three different generations wear the same heirloom piece for their weddings.
