Wife of man killed in 2019 police encounter dies by suicide, family blames Yogi govt

26-year-old Shivangi Yadav’s husband Pushpendra Yadav was killed in an encounter with police in 2019. Shivangi was found hanging in her room at parents' house in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun on March 29. Shivangi, 26, reportedly upset over lack of justice in husband's alleged fake encounter case. Currently, the case is being probed by CB-CID. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav targeted the Yogi govt over Shivangi's death, “Pushpendra Yadav wife’s suicide is murder of faith in power. Forcing someone to commit suicide is actually a murder.”, he said in a tweet. A note was found scribbled on her hand that indicated she is taking her own life. Her younger brother said the family members were together till everyone retired to bed. Shivangi and Pushpendra got married in June 2019, months before the police encounter.
