“I am a martial artist. In the face of injustice, I must stand up and fight. That was why we took up martial arts. Shouldn’t we use Chinese martial arts to change foreigners’ biases against us?”

And with that quote, the stage is set for the final chapter of Donnie Yen’s Ip Man saga, Ip Man 4, for which a new trailer was released yesterday.

A teaser in all senses of the word, half of it features mostly flashbacks from the last three Ip Man movies, while the other half sees the Wing Chun Grandmaster travelling abroad to San Francisco, USA. It doesn’t seem to offer much in terms of story (though based on what’s shown, it’s not hard to guess that Ip Man witnesses some form of injustice, probably dealt out by Scott Adkins’ an American Air Force officer, and has to step in to right that wrong.

Still, as formulaic as the story may turn out to be, we’ll be happy just to see Yen kicking butt as Ip Man once more. Since Ip Man 4 will be the final film he will be playing the role, we’re hoping that he’ll be fighting a lot more than ten fighters this time around.
