The six-part TV miniseries, which begins shooting in February (18), will serve as the latest adaption of Victor Hugo's classic.

West has signed on to portray Jean Valjean with Oyelowo taking on the role of his nemesis Javert, and Collins starring as Fantine. Rounding out the cast is Ellie Bamber, who will play Cosette, and Erin Kellyman.

Set in 1832, the production will draw from Hugo's novel rather than the musical version of the story, which hit the big screen in 2012 with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway among the stars.

The movie musical followed the 1998 big screen adaptation, starring Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush and Uma Thurman.

The latest adaptation, which will be directed by Tom Shankland, was being developed by executives at The Weinstein Company, but the studio's involvement with the film came to an end after Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual misconduct last October (17) and producers opted to find another production company.
