There is nothing more personal then what you call your baby. Parents spend months—sometimes years— thinking of the perfect moniker for the baby. But what if your name was so good that your closest friend snatched not one, but two of your kids' names and took them for her own precious bundle? One woman on Reddit faced that exact struggle with her now former BFF and asked the internet if she was crazy for being beyond pissed about it.

The mom explained that one of her closest friends used BOTH of her kids' names for her new baby—without ever acknowledging it.

In her post, the anonymous mom explained that it wasn't just a casual acquaintance who took her baby names. "We are BEST friends," she clarified. "She knows my children's name. She was at most of their births." In addition, the friend had some things made with the baby's name, so it wasn't a spontaneous choice right after the birth. "She had TONS of items that are embroidered with her name on them. This had to have been thought about well before the birth," the poster wrote.

But lo and behold, when her best friend recently had a baby of her own, she somehow casually forgot to mention that her new baby used two of her kids' names. "She named her daughter Nix Ryan. My son's first name is Nix and my daughter's middle name is Ryan," she explained.

Her problem isn't that she used the names—it's that she completely ignored the "coincidence" instead of just talking about it. "When I said, 'Oh wow, our kids share names,' she said 'I didn't even realize when I picked it, and later was like OMG.'"

"Am I being weird or is it odd to any of you too?" she asked.

But things only got worse.

After thinking about, this mom decided to be honest with her friend and share that she felt weird about the situation. But instead of being able to talk it through and move on, their relationship officially went up in flames. "Spoiler Alert: We will no longer be friends at this point because frankly this may be the weirdest shit that [has] happened in my adult life," she wrote.

When she called, she simply said that she'd love to chat and her friend immediately got defensive. "She said that after everything we have been through she couldn't believe I was ending our friendship over a name. Wait, what? I never said that," she wrote. "So I explained again that I wasn't angry, just felt perplexed as to why we never spoke about it before. She cried some more and said she was disappointed and that she thought so much more of me. Okay? I again, one last time, tried to explain that I was not mad just a little hurt that she didn't think to mention this whole thing to me."

But instead of listening, the friend completely flipped the situation and blamed the other mom. "She started the whole 'Oh you're hurt? YOU'RE HURT?' charade. I apologized for getting her upset and said we could talk once everyone's emotions were cooled down," she wrote.

Then the mom dropped a suspicious truth bomb. "She says, 'That's okay, I see your true colors now, and for what it's worth, her name isn't Nix. It's Onyx and I just call her Nix because I think its cute,'" she wrote.

And that's where the conversation ended ... for good. "I said, 'Why are you just telling me this two months later, and why have you never, anywhere mentioned that her name was Onyx, and why is it not spelled Nyx then?' At which point she hung up on me," she wrote. "I have zero desire to reach out again. I honestly don't even know that I believe that this child's name is Onyx, and that is just creepy AF."

Many people agreed: There was definitely something strange going on.

"That's a major friendship red flag for me," said someone else.

"This is weird AF," another user commented.

One person reminded her that it's "the sincerest form of flattery."

And others didn't see why it even mattered.

Now the mom is left trying to take the advice of others and "choosing to just shrug it off for now at least," but added that she still felt "a little saddened that she didn’t share it with me beforehand."

"I totally would've been 100% cool about it had she just discussed it with me," she added. "Heads up would have been cool, is all."
