The body of a 26-year-old Myanmar woman was discovered on Sunday night inside her apartment, located on the first floor of a shoplot in Kuala Lumpur. According to local media outlet The Star , authorities are withholding the victim’s identity, although it has been revealed that she was unemployed and held an identity card issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The woman was found by her 27-year-old Myanmar boyfriend with whom she had been living for the past two months. The boyfriend worked at a restaurant on the ground floor of the same building, and found his girlfriend’s body when he went upstairs during his break.

Police also later discovered the murder weapon under the victim’s bed. However, the apartment showed no signs of forced entry, and nothing seems to have been stolen apart from the victim’s mobile phone.

At a press conference earlier today, Wangsa Maju OCPD Superintendent Mohamad Sarif Suhaimi Sarif said the woman had several stab wounds on her abdomen, as well as a slashed wrist.

The boyfriend, along with two other unidentified men — a 25-year-old Vietnamese and a 28-year-old Indonesian — who were present at the scene of the crime were taken into custody and are currently waiting on a remand.
