PETALING JAYA: After a big win in Perak, PKR deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli (pic, left) claims he is now ahead of his competitor Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (pic, right) by a total of 995 votes.

He said he was surprised with the results of the party polls in Perak today, which has placed him ahead of Azmin.

"I would like to thank the voters in Perak who have given me 6,700 votes (61%) as compared to 4,359 votes (39%) to Azmin.

"I also won in 19 out of 24 branches in Perak - the biggest results in any state so far," he wrote on his blog (rafiziramli.com).

He also thanked the voters in Kedah, who gave him 3,210 votes (47%) for him as compared to Azmin's 3,653 votes (53%).

The former Pandan MP expressed hope that his strong performance will carry on in the final six branches in Selangor, as well as the polls in Sabah and Sarawak.

"With this momentum, as well as the support in Sabah and Sarawak, the internal 'reformasi' (reformation) agenda carried through #Reformasi20Tahun can be carried out," he said.

From the party elections thus far, Rafizi claims to have 47,542 votes (50.5% of the total) compared to Azmin's 46,547 votes (49.5%).

He also claims to have won in 86 branches (54.4% of the total) compared to Azmin's 72 branches (45.6%).
