PETALING JAYA: A former aide to Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman, accused of taking an upskirt video of a woman using his mobile phone at an optical centre, was released last night.

Sentul district police chief ACP R Munusamy said the 47-year-old man was released at 10pm last night.

“He was released last night on police bail,” he told FMT when contacted today.

Azis had two days ago reportedly sacked his aide following a police report of the alleged incident and a close-circuit television (CCTV) footage which went viral.

The Sepanggar MP said the actions of his former aide jeopardised his image and credibility as a deputy home minister.

The former aide was arrested at Solaris Dutamas, Sri Hartamas, in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

According to a police report sighted by FMT, the optician was treating Azis at an outlet in a Kuala Lumpur mall yesterday, when she noticed that a man, who was seated behind her, was holding up his mobile phone under her skirt.

A CCTV recording of the incident showed the man placing his phone near the optician’s skirt as she was checking Azis’s eyesight.

“When I turned to face the screen beside me, I noticed a man recording something on a mobile phone. After viewing the CCTV recording, I discovered that the man had recorded a video from under my skirt,” the optician said in her police report.
