KUALA LUMPUR: The professional shuttler under investigation by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for match-fixing is an independent and is not part of the Badminton Association of Malaysia's stable of players, says the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

"We have received initial information on the ongoing BWF investigation, and from what little is known, the individual is an independent player and not a national player with BAM," said its deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki on Tuesday (Feb 13).

He said that the MACC would also investigate the case but would wait for the outcome of the WBF probe first.

It was reported that the BWF is investigating the international player, who has since been provisionally suspended from all competitions.

The shuttler has been under probe by the world governing body since February last year.

The player, who represented Malaysia in the World Championships and the All-England last February, will be hauled up before the WBF in Singapore to answer the allegations.
