Venera 4 (L), built by the Soviet Union, and NASA’s Mariner 5 (R) entered the atmosphere of Venus just one day apart on Oct. 18 and 19, 1967, respectively to investigate and collect data about the planet. On the 50th anniversary of the exploratory missions, we look at facts about the probes.
