
GST best tool to boost revenue, says World Bank lead economist
The goods and services tax (GST) is a “mean and lean machine that mobilises revenues the best,” said Dr Apurva Sanghi. The World Bank Group's lead economist for Malaysia told reporters on Friday (Feb 3) when asked to comment on the Malaysian government’s measures in increasing revenues via taxation, adding that the GST is the most lenient and clean tax base system, as it mobilises revenues in the best way.
