Reports say Emma Roberts is the reason Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen broke up

We obviously don’t know them personally, but they just seemed like that couple who had kind of slipped away from the spotlight, had a kid together (a daughter named Briar Rose — they’re both big Disney fans, and Rachel is obsessed with Sleeping Beauty), and were happy to do their own thing.

When the news of their split broke, there was no reason. A source told Us Weekly that they had separated months earlier: “She’s full-time back in L.A. He’s in Toronto. They’ve been on the outs for a couple of months.”

However, a report from The Blast says another actress may have been the cause of their split: Emma Roberts.

Sources told The Blast that Rachel found text messages on Hayden’s phone from Emma, and that whatever these messages contained led Rachel to believe that Hayden and Emma were having an affair. Us Weekly says sources have confirmed the same story.

They recently worked together on the film Little Italy, in which they play love interests. According to the movie’s plot summary on IMDb, the young couple “must navigate a blossoming romance, amidst a war between their families’ competing pizza restaurants.” (Sounds weirdly Romeo and Juliet-esque to us.)

Actors always develop real feelings for each other on film sets — after all, Rachel and Hayden met and fell in love on the set of the 2008 flop movie Jumper.

Neither Rachel or Hayden have commented publicly on their split.
