Jade Thirlwall uploaded a very sassy post to Instagram - after losing the role she was hotly rumoured to take in an upcoming movie.

The Little Mix star was reportedly in talks to play Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie's live-action remake of Disney's Aladdin.

The 24-year-old who is a self-confessed Disney fan was said to be on the verge of signing a contract for the coveted role and her first foray into the acting world.

If cast, Jade would have had to devote months to rehearsals, filming and then promotion for the project.

A source had previously told The Sun: “Jasmine is Jade’s perfect role, so she’s delighted to have got this far in the process. The talks have been going on for some time now."

However, Disney announced the casting for the movie on Sunday and Jade's name wasn't on the list.

Instead the role will go to Naomi Scott, while Will Smith will take on the role of the Genie.

Although it's not known whether Jade's feisty picture was a direct response to the snub, her fans certainly seemed to take it that way - flooding her Instagram comments with supportive messages.

"You would've deserved it so much tho [sic]," wrote one disgruntled follower.

"Disney wanted a princess but they could of had Jade, a Queen, [sic]" added another.

"THROW THAT SHADE JADE," joked another.

Instead Naomi Scott wil star opposite Mena Massoud who was cast announced as Aladdin.

It's still yet to be announced who will be playing Jafar, but Tom Hardy is just one of the names that's been reported.

Guy is said to have approached the 39-year-old Peaky Blinders actor to play the main villain.

“Guy is a huge fan of Tom’s work and securing him would be a major coup," a source previously said.

They added to The Sun: “There have been conversations and, although nothing is set in stone and things are subject to change, he's certainly one of Guy’s favoured choices.

"It just depends on schedules whether he’ll be able to sign up.”

The original 1992 movie told the story of Aladdin, the young thief who is granted three wishes by a genie trapped in a lamp and the evil Jafar who wants to become all powerful.

Dan Lin is producing the live-action remake and says it will be an ambitious "non-traditional" take on Aladdin.

Jonathan Eirich will executive produce the movie.

The Mirror have contacted a representative for Jade Thirlwall, but are yet to receive a response.
