Matilda Bay

130 Stirling Highway, North Fremantle, Western Australia, 6159, Australia

Australia’s first modern craft brewery kicked off in Fremantle in 1984, was acquired by Foster’s six years later, and has been revitalized in recent times. Original brews such as Redback (a hefeweizen) and Dogbolter (a dark lager) have been supplemented with a wide range of beer styles. Much of the new direction occurred under the watch of head brewer Brad Rogers, who has since left the Foster’s fold after 15 years to embark on a new brewing venture.

Brewing secret

The Matilda Bay output includes an experimental “out there” series, which features a saison (named Barking Duck) and Crema, which is a coffee-infused pale ale.
